Welcome !

In Scouting, a boy is encouraged to educate himself instead of being instructed. ~ Robert Baden-Powell

Boy Scout Troop 130 is a committed group of Scouts and Scouters, boy-led and organized to maximize the scouting experience with a solid, well-rounded program of outdoor adventures, Scouting advancement, and community service. The unit was formed in January 1958 and has been going strong for over 50 years. We've produced over 100 Eagle Scouts, with many more travling the Scouting Trail.

Troop 130 is an active troop, with many fun activities happening every month. From camping in the Rockies to hanging U.S. flags on national holidays, from canoeing the Colorado River to helping in our neighborhood food bank, from hiking Philmont to participating in Easter Sunrise at Red Rocks - our troop stays active in the scouting program and in our community.

Year 'round, our troop is always on the go! Want to join in on the fun? Contact Us for more information! You can find a copy of our Activities Calendar here.

Trail to First Class Campout - April 22-24, 2016

Posted on Mar 28 2016 - 2:13pm

The troop has grown, scouts are advancing, and it's time for our TRAIL TO FIRST CLASS campout (formally or also known as Shakedown). This event is to help knock off requirements for Tenderfoot, 2nd Class, and 1st Class, and to give new/inexperienced scouts a taste of what it's like to camp with Troop 130! This is our once-a-year advancement focused event (not counting summer camp), and is a great opportunity to wrap up the previous Up-to-First Class Requirements that you have outstanding before the end of the 2016 calendar year.

Fulford Cave Trip - May 21-23, 2016

Posted on Mar 28 2016 - 2:10pm

In the Fall of 2014 many of you missed the opportunity to explore the Fulford Caves. Well it is back! We plan to leave FUMC at about 5:30 Friday night, drive to Eagle and set up camp, and spend Saturday exploring the cave, and return Sunday morning at FUMC at approximately noon. Due to new cave rules, this trip is limited to 16 people total. Fulford Cave is a popular destination for many cavers and spelunkers alike. It is not a very difficult cave, but does create challenges and common sense is advised when exploring the cave.

Sign Up for Summer Camp Soon!

Posted on Mar 17 2016 - 10:19pm

Come one, come all to the 57th year of summer camp for the troop. We are returning to camp Dietler where many boys recall fabulous times. Here, troops will participate in a back-to-basics style of camping that gives Camp Dietler its bold and exciting character. Scouts will pitch their own tents, cook food as a patrol and learn how to work as a team to make their week successful. Camp Dietler will take your Scouts in, show them the true meaning of "hardcore" camping, and spit them out ready to take on any challenge nature can throw their way.

Kiwanis Egg Stuffing

Posted on Feb 28 2016 - 1:47pm

A wonderful Community Service opportunity for Scouts in Troop 130 and Crew 130! The Kiwanis Club could use some additional assistance from Scouts with stuffing 'Easter Eggs' for the Golden Easter Egg Hunt. We will be filling the eggs at our meeting on Tuesday, March 15 from 6:30-7:30 pm. Please RSVP to Rick Baldessari by Monday, March 14 so he can insure enough pizza.

Scouts are also welcome to assist with the Easter Egg hunt on Saturday, March 26. We will need assistance in placing the 8000+ eggs in Parfet Park (10th Street & Washington) just prior to the event. Starting at 8:30 am we will be setting up in the park. The hunt starts promptly at 10 am is is over in under 3 minutes. Some assistance is required to assist in cleaning up afterwards.
