Welcome !

In Scouting, a boy is encouraged to educate himself instead of being instructed. ~ Robert Baden-Powell

Boy Scout Troop 130 is a committed group of Scouts and Scouters, boy-led and organized to maximize the scouting experience with a solid, well-rounded program of outdoor adventures, Scouting advancement, and community service. The unit was formed in January 1958 and has been going strong for over 50 years. We've produced over 100 Eagle Scouts, with many more travling the Scouting Trail.

Troop 130 is an active troop, with many fun activities happening every month. From camping in the Rockies to hanging U.S. flags on national holidays, from canoeing the Colorado River to helping in our neighborhood food bank, from hiking Philmont to participating in Easter Sunrise at Red Rocks - our troop stays active in the scouting program and in our community.

Year 'round, our troop is always on the go! Want to join in on the fun? Contact Us for more information! You can find a copy of our Activities Calendar here.

Sign Up for Camp-A Polar Bear - Feb 23-25

Posted on Jan 18 2018 - 10:07pm

It is almost one month to the Camp-A Polar Bear Campout. Why should you sign up to go?

Camp Alexander lets you experience winter camping at your level. You can either tent or you can spend the night in the stove heated “J-Don”. (You can only earn the Polar Bear if you tent camp and it drops below 0degF). You have shelter to dry off, but can spend the day playing in the snow, on the lake, and even possibly ice climbing, if you’re 13+. During the day, we will likely have a rousing game of skate-less ice-hockey. In the evening we sit around a roaring campfire and tell stories or play games.

Camp Alexandar - Feb 23-25

Posted on Dec 28 2017 - 1:54pm

Instead of Gateway District Klondike, Troop 130 is heading back to Camp Alexander for a weekend of winter camping, ice fishing (hopefully), broom ball, sledding, and FUN. This is a Weekend campout, staying in the “JDons”, up to 40 participants max.

Polar Bear / Quinzhee Campout - Jan 12-21

Posted on Dec 28 2017 - 1:52pm

Every January the troop braves the elements and does winter camping. Scouts have an opportunity to try for the elusive Polar Bear Award - outdoor activity that includes sleeping in below-0 temperatures. This year's event is January 19-21, 2018. We will be building, and sleeping in, Quinzhees in Frasier. You can pitch a tent if you want to. We are also going to try to get done early and go tubing on the nearby tubing hill!

Dec 9 - Golden Christmas Parade

Posted on Nov 30 2017 - 11:37pm

Come join us in the "Order of the Elves" and walk in the Golden Christmas Parade.  Please meet us in front of the City Chamber and then walk in the parade.  Waiting to be next to walk through downtown takes the longest, and the walk is a quick 15 minutes.
