Troop 130's Goal

Our goal is to have fun while providing essential skills such as leadership that will follow a scout for the rest of his life. While you are here at Troop 130, you will have a great time while learning many new skills.

Communication

It is important that all messages are communicated to the entire troop. There is a troop mailing list where important information is sent out, so make sure your parents get on this list by talking with the scoutmaster. Also, the troop website has some good information about upcoming activities, etc. The website address is www.troop130golden.net

Meetings

Troop 130 meets weekly at the First United Methodist Church in Golden from 6:30 to 8:30 on Monday nights. From 6:30 to 7:25 is merit badge time, to work on earning merit badges. The rest of the meeting is devoted to the activity which the youth leadership planned out. You can expect to work with your patrol for most activities. These activities can be anything, ranging from basic scout skills, to a game of dodgeball.

Another meeting that happens about three times a year is the Court of Honor. This is the meeting where you receive the awards that you earned in the bast few months. It's important for you to attend these meetings so that you can be recognized for your awards.
Troop Organization

Here at Troop 130, we use the patrol method to run our troop. This means that all of the meetings are boy-led. Youth leaders that are elected by the troop members plan and carry out our weekly meetings. Everybody will have the opportunity to become a leader, so if you don't like how something is done, get a leadership position and make it better. The main youth leader is the senior patrol leader, or SPL. This scout acts a the person in charge, making sure that things happen and that everyone has fun.
